Tiny Central Station_Sandra Herd

I’m a huge fan of this sort of tiny town perspective – I blame my parents for taking me to all of those model villages when I was a kid growing up in the UK. Sadly, I got excited when I discovered that there was a miniature village ‘Cockington Green’ in Canberra. I love the work of Keith Loutit who combines this look with timelapse to produce some wonderful footage. On the weekend I ‘found’ this image of Grand Central Station which I took while I was in New York a while ago and it was just crying out to be transformed into a ‘Tiny Terminal’.

I love Keith Loutit’s small worlds too they are awesome – especially the movies. This is a good effort too Sandy, I have no idea how to do this look but I guess I’ll investigate and figure it out eventually ;-)

Hey Jo, this is the ‘cheaters’ method…..just a few photoshop tricks (gaussian blur and ‘up’ the saturation). Keith uses a tilt shift lens with selective focus. The cheaters way is great if you have the right sort of shot to start with :-)

Sure beats spending a fortune on a tilt-shift lens.

I’m a bit of a fan of this type of thing as well when it works.

You’ve done well here Sandy, looks good.

I now keep a lookout for shots to take that might look good with this effect added.

Yep…the ‘cheat’ option is certainly a money saver…although I am dying to get my hots little hands on the tilt shift. ;-)
